Some Tips About Web Hosting

Unfortunately some hosting companies may try to hold your domain name or your hosting account hostage. They may give you a free domain name or a free hosting package for a limited period of time to simply trap your business, then charge you more and more down the road as you get your web site established. Do not join a host that includes a free domain name, or web hosting free with their hosting package; and, never purchase your domain name from a hosting provider, unless you are positive they will be putting your information in the WHOIS, the official domain name registrar.

If you need a domain name we recommend GoDaddy for domain name registration. Why would we recommend other sites for domain registration? Two reasons: (1) You need a company that will register your domain in your name with WHOIS. (GoDaddy will, most don't.) And (2), It is not a good idea to host your web site on the same site you have you domain registered because it is sometimes very difficult to move your web site from a host that also maintains your domain registration.

Another thing you'll notice is that most of these incredible scam plans force you to pay for a year up front to get the good reduced pricing. We think its best for you to purchase your web hosting on a monthly basis, with the right to terminate at any time (no long term contract). You might save a few pennys by paying up front, but you may wind up losing money if your web host goes out of business, or you decide you do not like the services and want to move somewhere else.

HOW DO YOU TRANSFER FROM ONE WEB HOST TO ANOTHER?

The key is to transfer from one web host to another without losing traffic or experiencing any down time. It’s easy. (1) Go ahead and establish your hosting presence with you new host. (2) Create an account in the name of your web site on the new host. (3) Point your domain name servers to the new web host. (4) Upload your site to the new host, and be sure you do not notify or cancel your old web hosting service at this time. (5) Then wait for 48 hours. By the end of the second day your web site will be totally operating on the new web host. Voila'! Now you can cancel the old hosting account and go forward on the new host without skipping a beat.

BLOG, BLOG, BLOG

The universe has been changed forever by Blogs and Bloggers. You know that Blogs (also known as "WeBLOGs") have gone main stream when the New York Times, Sports Illustrated and even the White House has a Blog. Setting up your own Blog has never been easier.

PORTALS, FORUMS, GUESTBOOKS, COUNTERS, WEB MAIL AND MORE

To be honest there are many ways to look at web hosting services. You may truly get cheap web hosting for which you pay a small price and get a small amount of services. Then, you have affordable web hosting for a very reasonable price, no long term contracts, and so much stuff to make your life easy, fun, challenging and just plain interesting as a member of the I-NetHome.com family that it is not practical to list it all here.
